"Whatever effects one directly effects all indirectly" --Martin Luther King Jr. Dear MANNM staff and Los Alamos community, As testing increases in New Mexico, the number of confirmed cases also will increase. Starting off this Monday, our number is 17 confirmed cases. 566 out of 583 of those tested were negative. The corona virus task force will meet again at lunch today. We have accomplished a lot so far, but given how rapidly the situation is changing it will continue to require a lot of work , planning and communication in an effort to stay on top of things. I love the way that we have updated environmental control, cleaning procedures, establishment of an isolation room, and control of patient's flow. We have learned how to test for coronavirus and are working hard on protecting our selves, our staff, and our patients from unnecessary exposure. "Social distancing" and "flattening the curve" are the new buzz words or time. However, my hope is we can use these efforts for positive effect. We were all created for connection and community. Social distancing does not mean disconnecting with others. As physical distance increases, let's find new and creative ways in word and deed to build connection with others. Make an effort to be more encouraging today to someone for example. Social distancing does not mean disintegration of our communities. Let's renew efforts to stay in touch. Communities can be strengthened during hard times if we simply choose to do so. Once again, thanks for your help as we work on the front lines of this pandemic to keep our communities healthy! Dr. Jacques
