Covid Corner with Dr. Gary Jacques
"Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." --John Wooden Stats: Yesterday, New Mexico recorded 107 new covid-19 cases for a cumulative total of 1345. There were 5 more deaths bringing the total to 31. There were no new cases reported for Los Alamos County. The Department of Health reports performing 31,970 tests. I estimate roughly 4.7 percent of recent tests performed are positive. Commentary: There is little to add to recent thoughts as we remain optimistic that this week our curve of new cases will flatten out. Any let up in social distancing however risks the creation of a new "hot spot" so the state needs to remain careful for the immediate future at the least. Encouragement: MANNM has done an amazing job putting John Wooden's quote into practice. The early adoption of telemedicine is a great example. While many medical practices in the county and in the state have severely curtailed hours, we remain open for business Monday through Friday all day. Let's keep focusing on what we can do to serve our community and each other during these unusual times! Dr. Jacques
