Covid Corner with Dr. Gary Jacques

"A sense of concern for others gives our life meaning; it is the root of all human happiness" --Dalai Lama Dear MANNM staff and Los Alamos community, Facts; 48 new cases of corona virus were confirmed today bringing the total to 365 for New Mexico. 14,011 tests were performed. There have now been 6 deaths. There are still no confirmed cases in Los Alamos. Commentary: We are warned that the national news for the next several weeks will be grim with an ever-rising number of deaths. Most of these remain in urban centers of high population density. It remains to be seen how this virus will spread spread to remote and rural areas but it seems hard to imagine that it will not. Hopefully when it arrives in Los Alamos County the numbers will be manageable. Keep your guard up. At a personal level, I am trying to make infection control in my household a little better each day than it was the day before. We can always find room for improvement. Encouragement: Yesterday's quote was a funny one regarding the futility of worry. Today's quote reminds us that a lack of worry does not equate to a lack of concern. Worry, anxiety and concern are each different. Let's show love and concern for each other without giving in to unhealthy levels of anxiety and worry. Regards, Dr. Jacques
